Enter the Alpha State…
"If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration."
– Nikola Tesla
Right now, I am obsessed with sound healing and the way it affects our brainwaves.
I’ve been doing a deep dive into the power of sound—how healing instruments and sound vibrations don’t just feel good, but actually affect us at a cellular level. When we’re surrounded by soothing tones, like those from singing bowls or chimes, our bodies and minds respond in subtle but powerful ways. These vibrations help raise our energetic frequency and bring our nervous system into a state of balance. It’s not just calming—it’s deeply restorative.
Sound, like guided imagery, has the ability to shift our brainwaves. It helps move us out of the busy, overthinking beta or high-alert gamma states and into the slower alpha state—a space associated with creativity, inspiration, and intuition. This is where we access the nonverbal, more intuitive parts of the brain. It’s the sweet spot where healing and inner connection begin.
But here’s the catch: our brains rarely get to rest there. We’re constantly stimulated—by screens, noise, and nonstop to-dos—which keeps us wired and tired. Without enough time in the alpha state, our resilience suffers. That’s why finding even a few minutes a day to pause and downshift is so important. It gives our brains the space they need to restore, which in turn supports our physical health and emotional wellbeing.
Stay tuned for future sound healing sessions. I’m so excited to be completing my Sound Healing Level 2 training course and I’ll be off to a Sound Healing Academy retreat in September.
Happy Alpha Waves!

Practice at Home:
Sound Soak: Close your eyes and listen to a calming instrumental track with singing bowls or nature sounds. Let the vibration of the sound wash over you for 3–5 minutes.
Alpha Breath: Breathe in slowly for a count of four, hold for four, exhale for six. Repeat for five rounds to gently slow your brainwave activity and calm your nervous system.
Creative Pause: Set a 5-minute timer, close your eyes, and ask your intuition a question like, “What do I need right now?” Stay with whatever arises—this quiet listening activates your brain’s creative center.
