Holiday Weekend Escape❤️
"Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you." – Anne Lamott.
This weekend I took some time out with my partner and our dog, a quick getaway to Princeton and El Granada on the coast. Just 15 miles away, but exactly the break I needed.
This season has so much going on: invitations, commitments, and expectations. To make this trip happen, I had to say no to a lot of things. But giving myself time to decompress, to have nothing to do, and to simply be and enjoy time together was worth every single “no.”
When I don’t protect moments like this, I notice how quickly I start cutting out the things that actually allow me to show up as my best, causing the stress to build and making the “fun” events, not so fun.
Are you finding ways to make space for yourself during the holidays? And if you haven’t yet, even a short intentional moment can help.
And if you are in the San Francisco Bay Area, I have a couple sound baths and relaxation sessions coming up this month. I would love for you to join me because you will feel rebalanced and refreshed!
Have a relaxing, joyful season!
Nicole
Practice at Home:
Find a quiet spot. It could be anywhere: your couch, car, a hiding space in the office.
Place one hand on your chest and one on your belly. Let your breath slow until it deepens naturally.
Inhale for 4, hold for 2, exhale for 6. Repeat 4 times. (The long exhale signals to your nervous system that it’s safe.)
Ask yourself:
“What is one thing I can let go of today?”
“What would help me feel more like myself?”Identify 1 doable action based on your answer and do it! Take some time out of your day to take care of yourself.
Small moments like these add up. They remind your body that you’re allowed to take a break and nourish yourself, even in the busyness of the season.
